Wow, Day 7.  Amazing how much one can accomplish with focused effort.  In 7 days of Partnership to Success training I’ve:

  • Picked a Domain Name (and registered it)
  • Found Web hosting, d9 hosting, set up an account and created a blog tied to the domain name
  • Built a good looking (I’m biased!) site that runs fast and is fully functional (and compliant)
  • Added quite a bit of content

Not too bad for a week of work.  Now we move on to the “business” part of the training…. monetizing the blog.

Day 7 Tasks

Today starts out with a series of “how to” tutorials showing how to create links and use them and then moves on to including a banner that’s linked to an affiliate offer.  Overall quite simple to execute, but a great primer on how to correctly set up links and use them in case there are any questions.  Pretty quick and easy, but a milestone nonetheless.

Reflections from Day 7

It’s the first day I’ve been able to get through an entire day without a technical issue to solve.  My SSL problems are resolved, site is rendering correctly and quickly and everything seems to be working as it should.  I look at the site and think “wow, there’s so much more I want to add”, but that will likely always be true.

My real takeaway from these first 7 days is that having a focused program to follow is really keeping me on track and productive.  Could I have figured all of this stuff out on my own?  Most definitely yes, but it would have taken longer and I would always be wondering if what I’m doing is moving me closer or further from my goal of running a successful business.

A week in and I’m just as thrilled about this business as I was on Day 1, probably even more so now that I’m starting to see real progress.  Just for fun, here’s an example of what we worked on in today’s lesson… inserting a banner image that links to an affiliate page.
